minecraft keeps crashing

every time i open minecraft, i see the singleplayer/multiplayer etc page for a second before it crashes. the launcher then tells me it crashed but i cant view the crash report. ive deleted and redownloaded the launcher and have even tried to use earlier versions of the game but it still crashes.
