launcher bug makes me not able to play anymore

The launcher works perfectly, but when I actually click to play, the game does not pop up anywhere and when I open launcher and try again, It says that the game is running in the background and I am very confused.

I tried it with every version and it doesn't work. I used a previous launcher and it works fine with 1.8.9 but on 1.12+ you don't see skins, it's very weird. 1.14 has no sound.

need a quick fix because i just can't play minecraft at all now.
