Cannot Log into Launcher with Username, only my email

The launcher will not allow me to login with my username, it will only work with my email. Says "invalid username or password" even though the same password works when i input my email. This is problematic more so for my brother who cannot migrate his account from his old minecraft premium account and now he can't even play with this bug. Just began with launcher update.
