Minecraft launcher is "offline", connected to internet and can still connect to servers

So people on reddit had the same problem; as soon as my laptop defaulted to the new launcher, the launcher said it was offline. I launched minecraft but could still access and presumably join servers. When I went back to try to change the launch version, I still encountered the problem and (foolishly) decided to try to re-log on. Since then, I've been unable to log on, as the server's still offline.
