HELP! I am unable to log into my Minecraft account.

I attempted multiple times to login to my account, instead I receive this message, "Sorry, make sure you are online and try again." I have checked my internet multiple times and reinstalled the launcher twice and still am having this issue. I'm confused if this is a bug from the update or not, it also appears my friend is experiencing the same issue as well.
