Login Failure

On attempting to Log in with the correct account information, I get the pinwheel signifiying that it is processing the request but it just sits at that until you close the program. I left it for a good half hour and it was still going. To fix it I just deleted the launcher_profiles.json in the .minecraft folder to take me back to the original launcher
