the game wont load any farther than the "Mojang" logo after it is launched before it stops working

my launcher loaded instantly, which doesn't happen on my bad laptop then when the client appears, it stays showing the Mojang logo, freezes, then says it's not responding. I wait a bit, and nothing happens. I retried multiple times, in different versions of the game, but without success.
