Launcher wont work

I reset my laptop a month ago and downloaded java & minecraft. Every single time i try to click ''Play'' on the launcher it just brings me straight back to the launcher and says ''An unexpected issue has occurred and the game has crashed. We're sorry for the inconvenience.'' and the game didnt even load soo?? (im using 1.13.1
