Mobs hit through a 3 block glass wall.

Witch Spawner Grinder is nearly impossible:
Mobs gathered in a killing room regenerate faster than you can land hits on them, swim on top of lava and hit you through a 3 block layer of glass.
This cannot be right, doesn't make any sense, and it is making me furious.
