Cannot glide With Elytra

I expected to glide.
Instead, I fell to my death. (in game)

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Put on Elytra.
2. Get to a tall place.
3. Jump off.
Usually, you would glide, but when I tried, I fell to my death.
