Spawners not responding in the new 1.9 prerelease 2

After my server updated into the new prerelease, the spawners from our mob grinders ceased to work. Its affecting not just one but every spawner online.
1 - Area is closed off and dark - still no spawning.
2 - Spawner is still active but not spawning.
