Maps from outside spawn area don't show location pointer

Maps generated outside of spawn area don't show user's location pointer on maps created far away from spawn area. I have a map of the area stored in a chest there, but it won't work straight away. It will work when navigated to from spawn area map after you enter their relevant coverage area, but not when stored in a chest and used after a fresh login.
