Placing fences next to other fences that have at least 1 block of air between the ground makes no sound.

I was building in my world and I tried placing a fence on top of another one.The fence was placed, without making any sound though. I tried opening my world to LAN in hope of a fix but the problem persisted.
EDIT: In the title by saying ''ground'' I mean every block except another fence.
