Swords hits will not land on target unless they are standing still

When attacking mobs in the game, unless they are standing still, blows will not land on them. This makes it almost impossible to play the game as I cannot engage in combat without dying. I am unable to fight as I cannot land any blows on a mob unless they are standing still
