Cannot sprint-fly by pressing W two times

What I expected to happen was that I will faster.
What actually happened was that I flew at the same speed.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Go into creative.
2. Fly.
3. Hit W 2 times, as you can do on land.
4. You won't fly faster.
