Silent Fenceposts

When a fencepost is placed on a solid block it produces a sound, however, any blocks placed on the fencepost on any side will generate no sound, but it should be, could this perhaps be related to the new sound event of tying a lead to a fencepost? A glitch in the assets, maybe?
