8 layers of snow cover looks identical to a snow block, but it may be melted.

What I tried:
Put a torch next to 8 layers of snow cover

What I expected was:
for 8 layers of snow cover to act like a snow block, and be impervious to melting.

What actually happened was:
It melted.
