Hunger bar depletes very fast after the first bite of food depletes

As soon as the first bite of food gets taken out of my full hunger bar, it takes about 7 seconds per bite to deplete and depletes fully in less than a minute. My game didn't do this up until today and I've been using the same savefile for about a week
