Double error when logging into game

When I try to launch Minecraft through the 1.6.48 launcher, I only get the "Play Offline" option. Looking at the log, it is showing two errors. 1) A Java socket timeout error and 2) Exception while logging into profile. I have checked the help center and all status indicators are showing green, and I can log in to the various Mojang websites. I have also searched the bug tracker and forums and not turned up anything with the same issue. I also checked to make sure that both Minecraft and Java are not being blocked by my firewall. I have tried the 1.6.44 launcher which still gives an error, but is able to login.
