Access Violation on starting world

Every time I try to enter in a new world, the game force closes with an exception access violation.

I start the game, the game loads the world, I see it for a split second, and then the game closes and I get a bug report (see attached)
This happens every single time I try to play, in the exact same way.

This is frustrating, because I really want to play the newest version.

This bug does not happen at all in older versions, 1.8 and older.
