things that dont load up on screen

ok when i start minecraft its ok but when i go to multiplayer and single player and i press the pause button which is esc i dont see cancel on the pause menu and when i press t for typing i see players chats and all that so when i type it doesent appear in the bottom but its invisible like i put hi and i didnt see the words but when i put enter it pops up in the chat
