Issues with screen and Text

My screen is darker than usual. Also in languages it only shows non-English characters. My chat words for one chat message then it fails and turns a dark shade of grey. All blocks that give off light seem to be glowing (lava signs, torches) I have no texture packs on and have my render distance at the smallest it can go. I have also tried deleting Minecraft and reinstalling it. The items in my inventory (other than whats on my character) are invisible and nameless.
