Cannot enter console after exiting a nether portal if it is blocked off on the other side

If a player enters a nether portal and all of the sides on the exit portal have been blocked off and protected, the player is permanently stuck unless an administrator moves him. This is extremely frustrating in regards to griefing.

It is NOT possible to open the console or chat to type a command such as /spawn or /home; therefore the player is permanently stuck without the assistance of a sys op.

Please allow commands to be typed while standing within a nether portal to alleviate this issue.
