Sword Swipe Bug

I expected to kill the zombie invading my glowstone platform

However when I do the AOE (Area of affect) sword swipe the animation starts at right to left. My sword was in my left hand and should have been left to right.

1. Stand still in front of a mob
2. Have main hand the left hand
3. Hit the mob without moving
