Can't open command blocks after death and respawn or changing dimensions

I was playing around with the new armor and mob AI and tried to make a contraption so when i get down to half a heart or so it heals me so i can continue testing without pause to heal and i gave myself a command block and clicked it and nothing happened

EDIT: After relogging i got the command block to open but i broke it and placed it again and it crashed the game
