Breeding 2 pigs consumes 3 food items

When you breed 2 pigs with potatoes beets,carrots it gives you the burp like you have eaten food and it automatically consumes a 3rd potato/beet/carrot and refills 1/2 a hunger as if you had eaten it.
This only happens when you are missing some hunger
This happens multiplayer and singleplayer.
