Cannot activate end portal with shield in hand

With the new snapshot 15w34b, I could not activate an end portal while I had a shield equipped. When the last eye was inserted, nothing would happen. Tried all three game modes and all failed. Once the shield was unequipped, all three game modes worked properly.
