Json doesn't work, title and tellraw commands broken

When trying to use the tellraw and title commands both came back with an error:
Invalid json: malformed JSON at line 1 column 3

Here are the commands I used:
/title @p title

{text:"test"}

/tellraw @p

{text:"test"}

It should have created a title/ message at the nearest player
