Icons don't show in select world screen

The icons for my world are always the default grey one, the reset icon button is locked.

i have tried generating new worlds to see if they got a icon but they didn't.

i tried manualy placing an icon.png in the save folder, no icon shows but the reset icon button is unlocked which does nothing but removing the icon.png again
