Item frames disappear

I was exploring caves and digging around and when I came back to my house I noticed that 3 item frames disappeared including their items (a golden clock and a compass).

Update:
I went down into my mine and came back a few mins later and the frames were back again! But then I logged out and when I loaded the game later the frames in my house were gone again.
