Seeds break when placed next to others in certain circumstances

When I placed down some Wheat_seeds on a certain block, all the others around in , N E S W , broke. It was like this on some blocks but not others, this particular one had a wall next to it and all the ones around it broke. It didn't happen to all of them though.
