/tellraw is broken

When I was trying to make a map for the 1.9 snapshot, I realised that tellraw was broken.

The commands I typed were:
/tellraw @p

{text:"Welcome to your doom",color:"dark_red"}

/tellraw @p

{text:"*evil laugh*",color:"dark_red"}
