End Gateway creates a false beacon beam when summoned through /setblock

When I summoned the block on the end, the beam was purple, and when I broke a few blocks on the same y-coordinate below, it went away. When I summoned it in the overworld, the beam was yellow and flashed repeatedly. It should be noted that I was playing on a server.
