Redstone Blocks power air blocks

"What I expected to happen was..."
I would retract the redstone block with a sticky piston below it.

What actually happened was...:
The redstone block powered the air block thus powering the piston

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Place a piston facing any direction
2. Place a redstone block 2 blocks above (air block in between)
