Using older resourcepacks when the launcher starts causes black screen in a world

Whenever I start the launcher with a 1.8 resource pack, Everything except the GUI is black. If I change it back to default, the black screen is still up, but if I restart with the launcher, start the world, then change the pack, it's working properly
