End gateway not linking back properly

killed the ender dragon and got an end gateway and second end portal. Summoned another ender dragon, when killed a new portal is created above the last one and a second end gateway spawned. When traveling through the second end gateway you transport to a new spot in the far lands of the end. When portaling through back you cannot do anything, seems you hover in the void and you either use /kill or have an operator kill you.
