Beds only place when facing in West direation

Whilst I am playing Minecraft Multiplayer, my beds only seem to be able to place in one direction. This direction is west. If a bed is placed in either South, East or North, then the bed simply breaks and is dropped as an item. This error is not to a specific gamemode.
