Ender Dragon Becomes Stuck on bedrock portal

When fighting the ender dragon, it seems to fly towards the pre spawned bedrock portal structure roughly every 30 seconds. When it does so it seems to remain stuck hovering above this portal for about 7 seconds whether you hurt it or not.

It seems almost like a mechanic to keep the ender dragon centred as, whatever happens, it seems to make a direct bee line to the portal after a certain amount of time whether in Creative or Survival
