I am trying to launch the game but everytime I try the programme won't respond and goes back to the 'minecraft news' screen

Firstly I opened the minecraft app and it put me staright to the minecraft news page. I then clicked play below and expected the game to load. However it will not as the app won't respond and puts me back to the crash report page. Please may I recieve help as I don't want to have to reset my PC.
