Game crashes when quitting to menu

When I quit to menu from a world in minecraft 1.8.7 the game crashes every time without fail. I've tried multiple times on different worlds but the results are always the same. Basically, when I click 'Save and quit to title', the game freezes on a blank screen, and then a message comes up saying that java SE binary is not responding. I usually get around 250 FPS in game. The game did NOT generate a crash file.
