Creative

When in game in either singleplayer or multiplayer and I open my inventory in creative and click on a item instead of it moving with the cursor i have to drag and drop it this also removes it from the creative menu for a few seconds then it reappears. Also when I try to Shift-Click on the red X in creative to clear my inventory to get rid of items it does not work. When I try to a more complex command eg.

It does not work instead it says un balanced brackets yet when i put it in a command block it works and when my mates do it it works.
Please Help!
