Wolves are no longer hostile when attacked if the player has gone through nether portal but they show hostile texture

After attacking wolves, the pack attacked me as normal but i ran into a nether portal. when i returned, they were no longer hostile towards me but the still had the texture they have when hostile ie. red eyes. this is the same when they are pushed through the nether portal
