Dropped items are a missing texture block

Put the summary of the bug you're having here:

I was on a server that has plugins that add custom items (no mods), but when the items dropped it is just the purple-black no texture block, despite it only happening with items, the effect also happens in item frames.

What I expected to happen was...:
the item to use it's texture

What actually happened was...:
It did not use it's texture

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Put NBT tags on an item, the server where i noticed the glitch has the ip is sirius.mayhem-multiverse.com
2. After logging on drop a custom item or put it into an item frame, it looks fine in your inventory
3. Notice the purple and black missing texture block.
