i cant enter multiplayer servers using 1.7 versons and below the only verson i can use currently for multiplayers servers is 1.8.3 and no other versions works

I could not enter any multiplayer servers on 1.7.9 and below

every time I press on a multiplayer server in 1.7.9 versions and below I could click on the server but everytime it says logging in and about ten seconds later it turns blank and a crash reports come in.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. turn on minecraft to 1.7.9
2. click on multiplayer
3. click on a random server
4. and minecraft crashes after it says logging in
