Cannot drop items, such as blocks, can only break things

What is supposed to happen when i click is to drop the block i am holding.

But, instead i break walls, or dig, or hit things with the block i am carrying.

1. log in
2. switch inventory to carry a block
3. click button to place block on ground
4. digs a hole instead
