My game will not allow me to play single player or multiplayer

When I attempt to get on multiplayer, I get a report saying "Authentication servers are currently down for maintenace" I have uninstalled, and reinstalled, turned off my firewall, and switched versions.. Nothing has worked. Any help is appreciated.
