Says that it keeps crashing and leads me back to the "Play" option

What I expected to happen was...:
Describe what you thought should happen here
for me to be able to play minecraft normaly

What actually happened was...:
Describe what happened here it leads me back to the "Play" option once I have already pressed it and shows me a crash report

Steps to Reproduce:
1. load up minecraft
2. press play
3. go into either a single or multiplayer server
4. leads back to "Play" option and shows a filed crash report
