Tried re-download minecraft, got the launcher 1.6.5 (not 1.5.2)

This is the most, frustrating start i have ever been in.

Each time i send those files to an empty map, or were minecraft is, it just keep redownloading the whole process again and again etc. and if i keep them on my desktop the launcher pops out of nowhere and im able to play, but i dont like having some random files on my desktop that is important or dont have to be there.
My friends have the launcher version 1.5.2, i have 1.6.5 which is confusing me why i got this version even if i re-downloaded the Minecraft.exe file from my account. I dont have a MAC, i have a normal pc (windows 7).
I also have the latest java installed...

Please solve this problem quickly, i really dont like this at all.
