Minecraft will not launch after I click the 'play' button

I downloaded minecraft to be able to play it again, but no matter what I do, when I click the 'play' button, the launcher closes for a couple of seconds, comes back with a black screen, like it used to do before launching the game, but instead of launching Minecraft, it goes back to the launcher with a tab called 'Game Output' open. I have no idea what it means or what to do about it. I have attached a picture of what it shows me so that maybe it will help.
