stronghold generation, end portals

On my 1.8.2 world, i tried to reach the end but strongholds appear to be empty, they spawn, but they lack the end portal and the whole room around it. one of them is even so small, with only 5romms or so. I unsuccessfuly tried to look for thoses missing portals with mcedit, but could not find them.
